Parking Issues

Received recently via email:

- residents in St Nicholas View, Jalan Menarong raised the issue of getting booked / issued summons for their cars parked along single white lines even when their cars were outside their own houses

- this happening just after the General Election, after years without such incidents occurring

Mr Inderjit Singh replied that

- "the enforcement officers will have to book anyone who illegally parks. This happens especially when a complaint is made by someone in the neighbourhood."

- he has asked LTA to coordinate with the Neighbourhood Committee to discuss this particular issue... "The officers have to enforce and the solution will be redrawing the lines but this is also not a simple thing as residents have different preferences. I will let the NC take the lead and recommend the type of lines to draw before asking LTA to act."

- and in the meantime advised the residents to meet with the Neighbourhood Committee members to see what can be done on the ground, like redrawing lines to help with the problem

- "judge us on the whole and not based on the SUMMONS you got. T[h]e PAP government has not been an irresponsible government. I will not respond point by point but will take note as I have also many more such feedback coming. We will do our duty the best way we can."
