TCM Health Talk by Public Free Clinic Society



Kebun Baru CC SCEC, jointly with Kebun Baru Active Ageing Committee and Yio Chu Kang Active Ageing Committee would be organizing another TCM HEATLH TALK on Sunday, 15th May 2011 between 3.00p.m. and 6.00p.m. at Kebun Baru CC Room 205. The Topic this time is - 'Prevention and Treatment of Rheumatism in Chines Medicine'. The talk would be conducted in Mandarin. Participants of previous two talks i.e. 'Prevention and Treatment of Hypertension in Chinese Medicine' and 'Regulating emotions for clearing heat - to creat a comfortable and flexible life' found the talks rather interesting. There were also hands on demonstration on the acupoints of our body. Therefore, please don't delay. Gather your friends and neighbours for the coming talk.

Intergeneration Sports Day







Kebun Baru CC GROs led by CSC held its Intergeneration Sports Day on Sunday, 3rd April 2011 at Mayflower Mall, beside Mayflower Food Centre and Market (Block 162). Guest of Honour was Mr. Inderjit Singh, MP for Ang Mo Kio GRC. Event started from 7.30a.m. with the participants, in families, some in three generations i.e. children, parents, and grandparents arriving in four different colours of red, yellow, blue, and green. There were games for families, games for children, stage performances, and a photography contest for families. There was a very turnout. The event came to close at around 11.00a.m. with participants proceeding to the Food Centre for their meals using the '$2.00 each' coupons distributed to them earlier.

TCM Health Talks

Kebun Baru Active Ageing Committee is having a series of TCM Health Talks, one every month commencing from March 2011. Together with SCEC, AAC will be rolling out the first two talks in the months of March and April. The publicity poster is attached for your kind perusal.
Tickets are sold over the counter at $1.00 per pax, light refreshments will be provided.
The first talks will take place on Sunday, 20th March 2011. Time: 3.00p.m. to 6.00p.m. Venue: Kebun Baru CC Room 205. The talks will be in Chinese language only, by establish Chinese medical practitioner from PUBLIC FREE CLINIC SOCIETY.
All are welcome. As seats are limited please hurry in order not to miss out. Gather your neighbours and friends to spend three hours including Q & A to learn more about TCM practices.

Healthy Lifestyle Group





























The Healthy Lifestyle Exercise Group @ Bishan jointly organized by Kebun Baru CSC and WEC, who used to gather every first Sunday of the month held their annual LNY gathering on Sunday, 6th February 2011. Guest of Honour, Mr. Inderjit Singh, MP for Ang Mo Kio GRC and Adviser to Ang Mo Kio GROs arrived at 7.15a.m. The programme commenced with warming up exercises followed by a brisk walking around Mayflower Garden estate led by the Guest of Honour who was joined by Kebun Baru CCC Chairman, Mr. Tan Ah Pek, BBM (L); Active Ageing Committee Chairman, Mr. Eric Lim Tee Kit, BBM (L); Kebun Baru CCC Assist. Secretary, Mr. Robin Chua, BBM and other grassleaders. Kebun Baru Villas NC auditor, Dr. Lim Ee Koon, PBM who has been a regular participant of this group was there too. After the walk, awards were given out to 45 regulars who clocked 100 percent attendance. Breadfast meal and oranges were distributed by Mr. Singh as part of the LNY celebration.

Upcoming Event

Ang Mo Kio GRC/ Yio Chu Kang SMC Citizenship Ceremony would be held at Cheng San Community Club on Saturday, 12th March 2011. Time: 1.30p.m. to 4.00p.m. Guest of Honour, Mr. Inderjit Singh, MP for Ang Mo Kio GRC, Adviser to Ang Mo Kio GROs. The programme would include a show of Ang Mo Kio 30th Anniversary Video clip, Video Show on 'We Choose Singapore' and 'We are Singapore', speech by Guest of Honour follow by presentation of Citizenship Certificates, and recitation of Pledge and singing of the National Anthem.
Programme would end with a Tea Reception and Guest of Honour meeting with new citizens & residents.

Upcoming Events

Dear Residents,
Kebun Baru Active Ageing Committee in conjunction with CCC roving exhibition would be organizing a 'Wellness Family Carnival' on Saturday, 5th March 2011. Venue: Kebun Baru Community Club. Time: 4.00p.m. to 6.00p.m.
Objectives: To create an avenue fo intergeneration boding; To increase Senior Citizens participation in our wellness programme, with the help from the RCs/NCs/subgroups; To promote mental/physical well-being in our Senior Citizens through cultural activities such as art competition and simple exercise demonstrations.
Target group: People from all ages, however, at least 300 senior citizens of age 50 years and above, with 200 of other age groups.
Price per head: only $2.00.
Activities on the day would include: games stalls, inflatable balloons for children, cultural competitions (art and craft, jigsaw), showcase of handicrafts.
HPB, NEA, and Police would be govt. agencies participating in the event.
In the hall would be the CCC roving exhibition. There will be quizzes related to the exhibits and prizes to be won.
As usual there would be a LUCKY DRAW.
Refreshments and finger food would be provided.
More details would be made available before the event proper.
